The DC Public Library is proud to host the pilot "Service is Everywhere in DC" exhibit from January 9 to April 18, 2025. This groundbreaking installation, organized by the National Museum and Center for Service, highlights the rich history and impactful projects of community service within the DC Metro Area.

In collaboration with the DC Public Library, the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington, and the Rotary Club of Washington DC, this exhibit serves as a model for how every community across the country can create their own museums of service. Funded in part by Humanities DC, the exhibit demonstrates how these organizations have shaped community service efforts over the years.

In addition to the exhibit, there will be accompanying programming led by the YMCA and Rotary, offering workshops and interactive sessions to engage visitors and inspire community involvement.

Visitors will learn about the YMCA of Metropolitan Washington's storied history and explore the Rotary Club’s initiatives, such as providing dictionaries to every 3rd grader and advocating for legislation to ensure every foster child has luggage, promoting dignity and respect.

Following the initial installation at Lamond-Riggs Neighborhood Library (January 9-April 18), the exhibit will travel to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library (April 21-July 27).

Join us in celebrating the spirit of service that permeates our city, and discover how you can contribute to ongoing and future projects.
