Winter Challenge

Washington Wizards and KPMG present: Winter Reading Challenge from Dec. 9 - Mar. 21, for early readers, kids and teens

Discover a world of winter fun at your neighborhood library! From Dec. 9, 2024 - Feb. 28, 2025 children and teens can sign up to check out great reads, enjoy fun events and participate in healthy activities for a chance to win great prizes from DC Public Library and The Washington Wizards.

How to Participate

1. Register

Visit your neighborhood library to pick up a paper gameboard or sign up online using Beanstack starting on Dec. 9. (If you've participated in any of the Library's reading programs in the past, you can log in to your existing account with your username and password.)

2. Play

Complete five activities in a row on your Winter Challenge Bingo board—vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. Once you have five in a row, you've got Bingo!

3. Claim Your Prize

Visit any DC Public Library with your complete gameboard or show your Beanstack completion to collect your prize and enter the grand prize raffle between Feb. 1 and Mar. 21, 2025, while supplies last.

All participants who complete this year's Winter Challenge will earn a completion prize. (While supplies last) This year's completion prizes, include:

Participants in this year's Winter Challenge will be entered to win one of two Grand Prizes!

A pack of free tickets to see the Washington Wizards take on the Orlando Magic on Apr. 3.

ABCmouse

ABCmouse is a fun and educational website geared towards children 2 to 8+. The site features books, interactive educational games, puzzles, videos, songs, and artwork that teaches reading and language arts, math, science, social studies, art, and music. Spanish language activities are also available in the “Things to Do” section.

Brainfuse HelpNow

HelpNow is a resource designed for K-12 students and beyond. Live tutoring is available in English and Spanish from 1 p.m. - 10 p.m. EST to provide homework help for core subjects, including mathematics, science, and English language arts. Practice long division, improve reading comprehension, and learn other key skills. Students may submit papers to HelpNow’s Writing Lab for expert assistance and feedback, or collaborate with peers in virtual study spaces.

eBooks, Audiobooks and Magazines just for kids and teens. For mobile and tablet customers, titles are available to download using Libby for iOS and Android.
